SignalTEK NT Network Transmission Tester
- The SignalTEK NT is used to prove that copper and fibre data cabling can support Gigabit Ethernet transmission rates when installing, maintaining and troubleshooting Ethernet networks
- A useful instrument for network installers, system integrators and end user IT departments
- When system warranties are not required, the tester offers a cost-effective way to demonstrate that cabling was installed correctly and is capable of supporting Gigabit applications, providing peace of mind for the installer and the client alike
- When handing over a job, often that is all that a client will want to know. The pdf test report generated speaks the language of the IT Manager
- The SignalTEK NT performs a wiremap check (only when testing copper cabling) and Ethernet data transmission test between a display and remote handset
- The wiremap routine checks the wiring schematic for faults such as crossed pairs, short circuits, opens, and split pairs. The length of the cable is also measured (copper only)
- The transmission test transmits real Ethernet frames between the two handsets and reports any errors against performance criteria laid down by the IEEE 802.3ab Gigabit Ethernet standard giving a simple pass/fail result
- In addition to simple point to point testing over newly installed cabling, the testers can be used to perform load testing through switches on a network, simulating different types of traffic (VOIP, CCTV, IPTV, web traffic). So for example the testers could be used to provide confidence that an existing network segment will support a number of new IP CCTV cameras
- PoE/PoE+ presence can be verified and the available voltage displayed. Useful for IP CCTV and VOIP
- 10/100/1000Base Ethernet connectivity can be confirmed at a location
- The tester can also verify network configuration (device IP, gateway address, subnet mask) and identify switch ports via LLDP/CDP protocols
- Other features include switch port blink, ping network devices or internet URLs and traceroute counting of hops between network points
- A tone generator function allows simple cable tracing to be performed (please buy the optional 62-164 amplifier probe)
- The tester is easy to use with a simple one-button test routine once configured and simple pass/fail results that can be automatically saved for later review or download
- Up to 5,000 results can be stored. The tester includes a WiFi adaptor allowing results (pdf or csv files) to be transferred using the free Ideal AnyWARE app to your preferred storage platform (email, ftp, cloud etc). Alternatively you can transfer results to a USB device if you prefer
- Three choices of result template are available (summary, brief and full) and can include company name, operator and logo along with job information
- CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, CAT7 (TIA 568A and B wiring schemes), shielded and unshielded cabling are supported
- The instrument features the Ideal Lifejack RJ45 inserts: when the test interface is worn or damaged you can simply replace it, extending the life of the instrument
- Supplied as a kit including display and remote handhelds, WiFi adaptor, test leads, rechargeable batteries and chargers in a soft case. The Ideal AnyWARE app is a free download
- If fibre testing is required please buy SFPs separately (two of each required, one for the display and one for the remote instrument)
- A set of additional wiremap remotes can be ordered to speed up testing of passive cabling
- Please watch the introduction video below. If you have questions we are able to arrange a one-to-one online demonstration of this instrument with a member of our support staff at a time convenient to yourself. Please contact our sales team for information
