Pre-Terminated Fibre Optic Switch Harness Trunks
- Factory terminated fibre optic trunk cables are a popular choice for:
- customers who need to complete an installation in a short time window e.g. overnight
- customers with limited manpower availability. By having the cables terminated in our factory you can take on bigger jobs
- customers who are not equipped to terminate fibre optic cables on site
- Switch harness assemblies have 2mm or 2.8mm ruggedised tails allowing connection directly into Ethernet switches without the use of patch panels or wall boxes
- Low smoke zero halogen tight buffer, loose tube, or CST armoured cable terminated with your choice of connectors
- 4, 8, 12, 16 or 24 fibre cable is available with 62.5/125µm OM1, 50/125µm OM2, OM3 & OM4 or singlemode fibre
- Subject to the length required, one end of the assembly has a pulling sock with a pulling eye (pulling eye included on lengths >49m only) that can be used for pulling the cable into position
- The other end of the assembly has a protection sock to protect the fibre terminations from damage during installation. Short assemblies can be made without pulling/protection socks
- When the trunk cable has been installed the pulling and protection socks are simply cut off
- The lengths of the terminated connector tails are staggered to enable them to fit into the pulling/protection socks. If socks are not required assemblies can be made with non-staggered parallel tails
- Hybrid harnesses can be made with 2mm or 2.8mm tails at one end and 900µm buffered fibre tails at the other. The 900µm tails must be installed inside a patch panel, optical distribution frame, wall box or similar enclosure to prevent damage. The 2mm or 2.8mm tails can be plugged directly into switch equipment
- The assemblies are fully tested in the factory and supplied with test results
- Trunks <50m long are supplied coiled in a heavy duty box. Longer trunks are supplied on a wooden cable drum
- We can label cables and drums with your cable route information upon request
