Divot Bare Fibre Testing Device
- The Divot is designed to allow quick connection of unterminated bare fibres to test equipment such as OTDRs
- Applications include:
- OTDR testing unterminated fibres before cable pulling operations to check cable deliveries before installation
- OTDR testing unterminated fibres after cable pulling operations (civils contractor handover to termination contractor)
- OTDR testing unterminated fibres to check the length of cable left on a drum
- OTDR testing unterminated fibres during cable manufacture
- connecting a fibre optic talk set to an unterminated fibre to provide a temporary communication link during works
- The Divot has a tail terminated with your choice of connector (to suit your test equipment)
- The fibre to be tested is stripped, cleaned and cleaved before insertion into the Divot. The device contains an index matching gel to improve the insertion loss. The gel cartridge can be replaced when exhausted
- The manufacturer even claims that the Divot can accept non-cleaved fibres (although fibres should be cleaved for best results)
- Supplied with 2 gel cartridges, a vial of ferrule cleaning wires and a carrying case
- Part numbers are listed for FC/PC, ST/PC, SC/PC, LC/PC, FC/APC and SC/APC. LC/APC available upon request
- Singlemode part numbers are listed but Divots are also available for 50/125µm and 62.5/125µm fibre
